Spring is here, hooray

Finally, but it's still nippy outside. Inside is warm and toasty with two of the little lovelies, grown from cuttings in my hand painted pots.

'Guinee' rose painting

From start to finish- the watercolor painting of a deep velvety red rose, bred in 1938 by Mallerin.

P.S. The small leaf down at the bottom was a happy accident. I accidentally drop a glob a paint there.

What is it about chandeliers that I love so much? Is it the fiery sparkle from the dangling crystals or the elegant lights that emanate from them? Anyway, here are two of my designs in watercolor.

P.S. Chandeliers are.....a pain to clean.

O Lemon Tree

This is the lemon tree that I grew from seed. It took 10 years to flower and bear fruit, but oh, you can't believe how fragrant and tasty these lemons are, the ones in the supermarket couldn't hold a candle to them.

French-inspired slipcover

The french-inspired slipcovers are made from heavyweight Belgian linen, the pillows are made from a silk/linen blend.

Compass Star Linen Duvet

This is another Italian linen duvet that I had designed, this time it was done in midnight blue.

Double chocolate-chip cookies

I love to bake, in order to celebate the spring like weather, I am going to bake my favorite double chocolate-chip cookies. So come on guys, roll up those sleeves and let those muscles go to work. I promise that you couldn't eat just one !




Double chocolate-chip cookies recipe :



6 ounces of chocolate chips

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 stick butter, at room temperature

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla



1. Preheat oven to moderate 375 degree

2. Melt 1 ounce of chocolate chips in small saucepan

3. Mix together flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl, beat butter in large bowl until creamy, then beat in sugar, add egg and vanilla. Then beat in melted chocolate.

4. Beat flour, baking soda and salt into chocolate mixture until very well blended, then stir in chocolate chips.

5. Drop dough by rounded tablespoon, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets (you should have about 2 dozen of cookies, I like mine big, so I have about a dozen), (You could also sprinkled more chocolate chips on top, and add a chocolate kiss if you wanted to , my kisses are left over from the holidays and I didn't know what to do with them, so I stuck them into the middle of each cookie.)

6. Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until slightly browned around the edge. Remove cookies and cool on wire racks.
